COVID 19 Plasma Donation in Travis County and Central Texas
The need for convalescent plasma donations continues as COVID-19 patients in our community receive treatment at Central Texas hospitals. If you have recovered from COVID-19 and have been without symptoms for at least fourteen days, you can help a COVID-19 patient in our community by donating whole blood or platelets at We Are Blood.
We Are Blood collects convalescent plasma from individuals who qualify based on COVID-19 antibody test results from two separate tests performed on every whole blood and platelet donation. This plasma is being used to treat hospitalized patients currently fighting COVID-19. The plasma can be collected through whole blood or platelet donations.
We Are Blood will perform SARS CoV-2 antibody testing on all donors who successfully donate using two different tests authorized by the FDA to qualify the donor and ensure the plasma meets EUA specifications. A reactive result on both antibody tests and a high antibody titer test result is required to qualify for convalescent plasma donation. A negative initial screening test will not undergo additional testing and the donor will not be qualified for convalescent plasma donation.
