We Are Blood is proud to offer a variety of patient care services to our Central Texas community that goes beyond the scope of regular blood donation.
Our highly trained medical team partners with local physicians and hospitals to provide a variety of clinical services both in-house at our North Lamar donor center, and in our community at partnering facilities, depending on the procedure type. Our expertly trained nursing staff performs these specialized procedures both in-house and at the patient’s bedside under the direct oversight of his or her physician. Our nurses provide exceptional patient care and utilize state-of-the-art technology to ensure every patient feels at home and part of our family.

IN HOUSE SPECIAL DONATIONS:
Autologous and Directed Collections
Autologous donations are donations that individuals give for their own use. For example, if you have a surgery coming up, you may donate your own blood that would be transfused back to you during your surgery. This type of donation is arranged through the patient’s physician.
Therapeutic Phlebotomy
A treatment used for reducing iron stores in hemochromatosis, polycythemia vera and secondary polycythemia patients by removal of whole blood or red blood cells from the patient. We Are Blood is proud to offer Hereditary Hemochromatosis and Testosterone Replacement Therapy programs that allow the blood from qualified donors to be used to support the community blood needs. Cellular Therapy:
Mononuclear Cell (MNC) Collections
Mononuclear cells, including monocytes, lymphocytes, CD34+ and dendritic cells with low red blood cell, granulocyte, and platelet content are separated and collected using continuous flow centrifugation technology.
PROVENGE® (sipuleucel-T)
An autologous cellular immunotherapy for the treatment of asymptomatic or minimally symptomatic metastatic castrate resistant (hormone refractory) prostate cancer.
Therapeutic Apheresis:
Therapeutic Plasma Exchange (TPE)
A therapeutic apheresis procedure used for the treatment of various diseases and conditions, including myasthenia gravis, Guillain Barre syndrome, thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura (TTP), and chronic inflammatory demyelinating neuropathy (CIDP).
Red Blood Cell Exchange and Depletion
A therapeutic apheresis procedure used to treat acute crisis and chronic management of patients with sickle cell disease and other red cell-affiliated diseases and conditions.
White Blood Cell Depletion
A therapeutic apheresis procedure is used to treat hyperleukocytosis occurring in association with leukemia.

In house blood draw services (autologous, directed/ dedicated, and therapeutic blood draw services) are offered by appointment Tuesday- Thursday 8:30 am-3:30 pm
Therapeutic Apheresis and Cellular Therapy collections are offered through contracted services with We Are Blood.
