WHO’S READY TO BATTLE?
For over 15 years, We Are Blood’s annual Battle of the Badges campaign has honored local first responder agencies and helped ensure our local blood supply is protected over the July 4th holiday.
We are excited to kick off this friendly competition between Austin Police Department, Austin Fire Department, Austin/Travis County EMS, and Travis County Sheriff’s Office on Jun 27, 2024. When you check-in for your donation appointment, you can vote for your favorite agency. The team with the most votes and donations will receive this year’s trophy.
Roll up your sleeves and donate blood or platelets at one of our four donor centers or mobiles drives (schedule below) between June 27-July 7 to cast a vote for one of our local first responder agencies.
When you do, you’ll receive a Rudy’s breakfast taco voucher AND your own, limited edition, 2024 Battle of the Badges t-shirt!
FIRST RESPONDERS AND THE COMMUNITY BLOOD SUPPLY
Every day, Central Texas first responders help neighbors in need and see firsthand the lifesaving impact of We Are Blood donors.
The summer months, especially holiday weeks, are difficult for our community’s blood supply as individuals become busy with vacations and family commitments. Meanwhile, blood and platelet transfusion needs often increase as community events ramp up and Central Texas experiences record heat.
Blood shortages are more common during the summer, especially around the July 4th holiday. Working together to serve Central Texans during this difficult season, We Are Blood and local first responder agencies team up to inspire blood donors, winning the coveted Battle of the Badges trophy is just the icing on the cake!
