Central Texans Helping Central Texans
Annually, We Are Blood partners with other local nonprofits to double the impact on the community. Through the Giving Double campaign, all donors not only can save up to three lives, but their donation can financially support other nonprofit organizations in Central Texas.
This August, We Are Blood teams up with the Austin Humane Society, Central Texas Food Bank, Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Texas, and TreeFolks to elevate the impact of our blood, platelet, and plasma donors. Though we are different organizations championing diverse causes, together our missions align to create and sustain our Central Texas community through providing for local families, caring for homeless animals, improving our environment, and protecting patients in need throughout Central Texas. Let’s dive into how donors can double their impact by rolling up a sleeve.
Five Partners. One Collective Mission.
With each donation made at one of our donor centers or mobile drives, donors get to choose which of our four partnering nonprofits will receive a $5 monetary donation from We Are Blood on their behalf. Here’s a little more information on each of our partners:
The Central Texas Food Bank is dedicated to fighting hunger in our communities by providing meals and promoting healthy eating habits. In the past year, they distributed over 50 million meals to Central Texas families, a remarkable feat made possible by the generosity of donors and the commitment of volunteers. Their efforts ensure that individuals and families in need have access to meals and resources, creating a healthier community for all.
The Austin Humane Society, a nonprofit dedicated to animal homelessness, pet adoption and life-saving animal services in Central Texas, has been serving our local communities since 1952. Thanks to the devotion of donors and volunteers, Austin Humane Society has assisted over 11,000 animals, transforming the lives of dogs and cats and those who love them. What an incredible impact for our beloved furry friends!
Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Texas is dedicated to lessening the burden for thousands of Central Texas families every year. Through providing a comfortable “home-away-from-home” that keeps families close to their hospitalized children, to giving comfort items to patients, and offering family support programs over 40 years, the mission of Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Texas has been to directly improve the health and wellbeing of children and families.
TreeFolks operates across Central Texas to build stronger communities through tree planting, distributing trees, and providing education on tree care. This nonprofit also contributes to reforestation efforts following natural disasters that have devastated parts of Central Texas. With the support of thousands of volunteers, TreeFolks has planted over 3 million trees. We eagerly anticipate seeing this number grow!
