Express Your Superpower with Mother’s Milk Bank

August is National Breastfeeding Month, dedicated to educating families about the importance of breastfeeding and celebrating women’s journeys to provide milk for their infants. Our friends at Mothers’ Milk Bank at Austin (MMBA) celebrate all of the moms who’ve chosen to provide milk to their own babies and those who’ve donated their extra milk to the milk bank to protect the smallest of lives in our community.

MMBA saves babies’ lives by providing pasteurized donor human milk to babies born too early, too sick, or too small. More than 11 million ounces of donor milk have been pasteurized and dispensed by the milk bank over the past 25 years. Key to helping babies survive and thrive is having moms donate their extra milk – milk they express and store in their freezer but end up not needing. Healthy lactating moms who have more milk than needed can donate their milk to demonstrate their superpower.
