National Donate Life Month: Time to Honor the Gift of Life

Posted: Mar 28, 2025 | Category: Latest Articles

Many people don’t realize that nearly everyone can be a donor, and that every donation is a vital contribution to a larger cause. Beginning in 2003, National Donate Life Month shines a light on the urgent need for donors, raises awareness about the life-saving power of organ, eye, tissue, and blood donation, and encourages people to make informed decisions about donation.

This April, we want to shout out our sister organization, United Tissue Resources – working alongside doctors, medical staff, and families 24/7 to facilitate gifts of tissue donation.

A Community Effort

Each year, there are more than one million tissue transplants performed across the U.S. In 2024, United Tissue Resources experienced significant milestones, working with 300 generous donors and their families and facilitating over 14,250 grafts implanted in Central Texas.

Organ, eye, and tissue donation is more than just a medical process; it’s a community effort that touches the lives of so many. Donor families, recipients, medical professionals, transplant coordinators, and countless others come together to support each other and make this lifesaving medical care a reality.

A Life-Changing Decision

By working together, we can ensure that more people have the opportunity to experience the gift of life. Let’s commit to making a difference!

Here are some ways you can support

  • Schedule a blood donation to support the lifesaving care of local patients in need and those receiving certain types of transplants.
  • Spread the word about organ, tissue, and blood donation to your friends, family, and colleagues. Let them know how easy it is to register and the powerful impact their decision could have.
  • Honor the families of those who have made the selfless decision to give the gift of life.
  • Support organizations like United Tissue Resources, Donate Life Texas, and yours truly. Your contributions support our continued work in raising awareness about local patients’ needs and saving lives locally.

This National Donate Life Month is a reminder of the incredible generosity shared amongst strangers and the peace and hope it brings. You have the power to donate life. We encourage you to learn more.
