As a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization, We Are Blood accepts and depends on financial contributions to support a thriving local blood supply.
Our Bond with Central Texas Is Thicker Than Water
Founded in September 1951, We Are Blood was the first nonprofit blood bank to serve the greater Austin area. Over more than 75 remarkable years, Central Texas has experienced a dramatic rise in demand for blood products.
- Since 2015, we’ve grown to provide over 96% more platelets and 55% more red blood cells annually for local patients.
- With continued regional growth and new medical treatments becoming available, we anticipate at least a 25% increase in blood product needs by 2030.
To meet this demand, it is urgent that we expand our capacity and resources to serve our community now and well into the future.
A Lifesaving Investment in Your Community
A strong local blood supply means the people you see every day; the people you care about most—family, friends, neighbors, and coworkers—have access to lifesaving blood when they need it most.
We Are Blood is a locally owned 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. All financial contributions are tax deductible, and you will receive a letter acknowledging your generosity.
When you financially support We Are Blood, your gift helps us:
- Recruit and retain new blood donors through community outreach
- Increase community awareness about the ongoing need for blood in Central Texas
- Launch and sustain new donor and patient-focused programs
- Provide donors with meaningful thank-you gifts
- Purchase and maintain critical equipment, including bloodmobiles, automated components devices, and stem cell collection equipment
All of which helps We Are Blood provide improved care for local patients. And your support plays a vital role in ensuring We Are Blood can continue meeting the growing needs of our community for years to come.
Thank you for investing in the health and wellbeing of our community and in the future of Central Texas.
