It’s almost Thanksgiving?

Last month, we finally let y’all in on our big secret—and then we blinked and a month went by. Now, Thanksgiving is a week away! What?!

For many of us, Thanksgiving comes at a particularly welcome time this year. Our whole community seems to be ready for a little TLC and downtime after an exceptionally busy, and at times tumultuous, fall season. But we have a lot to be thankful for. At We Are Blood we are thankful for the hundreds of people we meet every day who are voluntarily giving up their time (and blood) to save lives. Having a local blood supply means that despite all the other competing forces, we have at least one common bond we can all share. And who couldn’t use more of those right now?

        For those of you looking to give back this Thanksgiving, keep reading to see what opportunities exist at We Are Blood.

The holiday season can be hard on the local blood supply because many of our regular donors take (much deserved) vacations for Thanksgiving. Which means we rely even more on those of you who are planning to stay in town. Please consider stopping by one of our locations to donate blood or platelets if you’ll be in Central Texas Thanksgiving weekend. If you do, we’ll give you a free t-shirt!

Heads up, we close at 3pm on Thanksgiving Eve (November 23), and we will be closed on Thanksgiving Day.

Maybe you’ll be joining the thousands of Americans who will be shopping during their Thanksgiving holiday? If so, why not make it a shopping trip that doubles as a volunteer opportunity! We’ll be hosting blood drives at both Lakeline and Barton Creek Malls throughout the end of November.

Celebrated on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving, Black Friday, and Cyber Monday, #GivingTuesday kicks off the charitable season, when many focus on their holiday and end-of-year giving.
