KVUE Cares – Buda Community Blood Drive

Posted: Nov 04, 2024 | Category: Latest Articles

The City of Buda, KVUE, Buda Fire Department’s EMS Division, and We Are Blood are all partnering up to host a lifesaving regional blood drive to benefit local patients in Central Texas!

The holidays can be a challenging time of year for blood donation. KVUE understands this and has partnered with We Are Blood to host a large annual drive each holiday season to meet the critical need for blood donations in Central Texas. We call it KVUE Cares! Each year, KVUE Cares is hosted by a generous community served by We Are Blood, and this year the City of Buda, their giving residents, and our partners with the Buda Fire Department are welcoming us!

While this year’s KVUE Cares highlights the amazing impact of Buda blood donors, the timing of our event is extra special with the Buda Fire Department – EMS Division’s launch of their pre-hospital transfusion program with We Are Blood. Starting November 2024, BFD’s EMS paramedics will carry blood on their vehicles so they can provide transfusions in the field, delivering lifesaving care to Buda patients closer to the time of injury and increasing their chances of survival.

“We are grateful to the Buda community for the lifesaving difference they will make this holiday season by donating at our KVUE Cares blood drive,” said Nick Canedo, We Are Blood’s vice president of community engagement. “Every donation made at this special event will protect friends, neighbors, and loved ones who receive care from local hospitals and first responders.”

We Are Blood is the sole provider of blood to over 50 hospitals, clinics, and first responder agencies across 10 counties in Central Texas, including Hays County. Join KVUE and the Buda community in ensuring our Central Texas patients are safe this holiday season.
