Did you know only three percent of the eligible population donates blood? That means of the millions of people in Central Texas, that you, my friend, are part of an elite squad!
Blood is a priceless resource that can’t be manufactured. That’s why we rely so strongly on our community of amazing donors. The blood donations We Are Blood donors make on a regular basis save local patients’ lives daily. These patients may be our friends and folks right here in our neighborhood.

Each donor is inspired to start giving blood or platelets for one reason or another. Whether you or a loved one has experienced a traumatic accident, undergone cancer treatments, or simply want to do good in the community. There is something special that motivated you to walk through the doors the first time and to continue coming back to donate blood.
Since 1970, January has been designated as National Blood Donor month. This is a time to celebrate the generosity of volunteer donors like you and highlight the importance of blood donation. Over the course of the month, we would love to hear what inspired you to donate.

We want to hear from you. We invite you to participate in our National Blood Donor Month celebration in one of the following ways:
- Share your “why” by completing this Microsoft form. Donor quotes that are submitted here will be used to create social media graphics for our 2024 calendar year.
- After your next donation, write down your why on a dry erase board in our centers or blood mobiles and take a selfie. Post your picture on socials and tag us @WeAreBloodTX.
